Whitianga
is a seaside resort town and the main
settlement of Mercury Bay. It takes
2.5 hours by car or bus (or 30 minutes
by plane) from Auckland and is a popular
holiday destination for both New Zealanders
and International visitors. Whitianga
has a population of approximately
5,000 people, however during the New
Zealand peak of summer, the area attracts
thousands of visitors all looking
to relax and experience the magic
of the Mercury Bay.

Rich in both
history and natural beauty, Whitianga is
the landing place of Kupe, the first Maori,
and of Captain James Cook a thousand years
later. It is surrounded by clean, white
sandy beaches and the blue waters of the
Pacific Ocean. The warm climate and rich
soils in The Coromandel promote lush growth
and native forest covers much of the Coromandel
Peninsula. Huge majestic trees and pristine
forest have been protected and can be easily
seen by the highways or walking tracks.
Whitianga is
the perfect destination to stop for a few
weeks and experience very best of New Zealand's'
natural environment.
